Who cares if Barmes made the catch or not, the umpires ruled that he did.
It was an amazing play and effort on his part and the discussion should end. It doesn’t really matter.
Go Rockies!

Thoughts & Experiences from the Mile High City

Go Rockies!
The Major League Baseball umpires have gone down hill in the last several years. To me, they just don’t understand the game.
There are some good examples just this weekend.
Last night, a Diamondback busted it up the line and was past the bag when the ball got there, but the umpire called him out. It was quite obvious that he was safe. Then as soon as AJ Hinch gets out there, he gets tossed.
Another example is todays New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox game. Ramon Ramirez was tossed when he hit Alex Rodriguez. There is no way Ramirez is throwing at him. The Yankees are up 2 late in the game and he is pitching inside, which a pitcher needs to be able to do.
Umpires have no idea of the flow of the game, they get caught up in the emotion and make calls they shouldn’t. Many of them have egos and feel that they never are wrong.
They need to be humble. Being a Major League Umpire is a privilege, not a right.
Manny Ramirez should still be sitting somewhere other than a ballpark. He was suspended back in May for 50 games and shouldn’t be playing again until July 3.
But Manny is making the rehabilitation tour and it began this week in Albuquerque. He is now making the move to the Dodgers’ High A team.
I would have to agree with Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News who says that ESPN and others shouldn’t be celebrating Ramirez’s return. He says it best, “Only in the twisted world of Major League Baseball could a serious suspension be turned into a nationally televised victory lap with a financial upside.”
Manny should be sitting and not able to go back to a minor league team to get ready for the big leagues until the 50 games are up. He shouldn’t even be able to practice at the teams stadium like Manny has been doing.
If this were a minor leaguer, they wouldn’t be able to get a rehab assignment.
MLB, clean up this loophole and clean up the game. We don’t need to be celebrating what Manny Ramirez did.
I just want to say that Major League Baseball and the Colorado Rockies need to improve thier online ticketing.
The ticketing process is timing out so I am unable to purchase tickets. I want to give them money, but their processes are preventing that from happening.
What is happening is that I am choosing tickets, but I don’t like where they put me. So I release the tickets and try again. When I try to get back in, the site times out. I can’t get tickets.
This happened to me yesterday. I was trying to get tickets and I ended up having to go to the game and wait 45 minutes in line to get tickets.
It is quite frustrating and I wish they would improve it so this stops happening.
The playoffs this year is the prime example of why I have lost interest in the NBA.
The officiating is poor, the players act like babies, the schedule is all over the place, and the games have devolved into professional wrestling matches.
For example, the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks last played on Tuesday. Under a normal schedule the two should be playing tonight, but no. They won’t play until Saturday. How does that help with the flow of a series? It doesn’t.
The officials are just concerned with protecting their star players. Take a look at what Kobe did last night. He threw an elbow into the chest of Ron Artest, but was he called for a foul? NO!
Artest was called for something, but I don’t think he fouled Bryant. Then Artest gets tossed.
The players are fighting, hitting, etc. This is not basketball. The Magic – Celtics game is a perfect example last night when one of the players slapped another across the head.
The NBA needs to improve their image or they will continue to lose more fans and more money.
I just want to say that Matt Vasgersian is a classless reporter/anchor on the MLB Network.
Tonight Brad Hawpe was beaned on a pick-off throw in the neck below the helmet. He had to be taken off on a cart with his neck immobilized. It is a serious situation.
Vasgersian was making jokes about one of the paramedics looking like a Donovan McNabb. Classless and just plain wrong. Even the color analysts thought it was pretty stupid.
An injured player is nothing to joke about, even people who are trying to help the injured player.
Vasgerisan should clean up his act, be a professional, and apolgize for his stupidity.

I am in Montreal for a work conference and was fortunate to get to go to the Canadiens-Bruins game tonight.
Just to be in the arena where the Habs play was amazing. Just seeing all those banners in the rafters makes you awestruck.
The game could have been better, but just to see the game in Montreal was well worth the ticket.
Our seats were two rows from the top, but we had full view of the ice. Plus we were sitting on center ice.
Once again, a very fun evening.
Tension between Cutler, McDaniels isn’t diminishing – The Denver Post.
I just want to say that Jay Cutler needs to grow up. The NFL is a business and no one is immune to trade talks.
Right now he is being perceived as a cry-baby in a game played by men.
He has the arm and skills to be a great quarterback in this league, but he hasn’t produced the wins or playoff appearances that are needed to be classified as a great quarterback.
Yes he was a Pro Bowl quarterback this year, but he didn’t get it done at the end of the year. He had several opportunities to lead the Denver Broncos to the playoffs this year and failed miserably.
Josh McDaniels and the Broncos have been honest with him throughout the process. Cutler is listening to the wrong people and needs to grow up.
If he wants to prove McDaniels wrong, he needs to do it with the off-season workouts and through next season. Not posturing with his agent through the media.
Grow up Cutler!
The 2009 Colorado Rockies television commercials are now out for you to view on their website. They will begin playing on FSN Rocky Mountain, 9 News, and other Comcast cable channels on March 9.
They are hilarious, show the players in a different light, and do a good job of selling the team.
This year, my particular favorite is the wedding mound visit. It doesn’t get better than that. Watch out for the surprise at the end.
These commercials really make me laugh.
Sunday with the Avalanche from Long Island : All Things Colorado Sports Colorado.
Toward the end of a recent blog post, Terry Frei of the Denver Post admitted that he deletes blog posts that have a limited shelf life about the Colorado Avalanche.
Terry, you don’t need to do that. Keeping a blog post up there is part of history and how things develop. That is the nice thing about having things posted electronically and online, you don’t need to delete them.
First-of-all, if you have comments turned off it is not really a blog. Terry, your paper allows comments on your stories in the paper. At least you can do is have comments on your blog. I probably would have left a comment there instead of writing this post.
Not deleting blog posts and allowing comments builds community and discussion about a subject you cover and many people like, the Colorado Avalanche. I think you would improve your coverage and the people who follow you if you didn’t turn off commenting and keep the posts.
Plus, it is not good blogging etiquette. Please leave them up and open up commenting.
