Rockies Go Down 2 Games to 0 in the World Series

Well the Colorado Rockies went down 2 games to 0 losing to the Boston Red Sox tonight in Game 2 of the World Series.
The Rockies are now making the mental errors, almost trying to hard.  You could see that in the Top of the eighth when Matt Holliday got picked off first base.  They are also horrible with runners in scoring position.  I think something like 1-12.  This is something that they did quite well in the previous two series.

But tonight I think the umpiring was working against them also.  Laz Diaz, the homeplate umpire, had a lot bigger strike zone for the Red Sox than he did for the Rockies.  This was especially true for the right-handed hitters of the Rockies.

Several times Diaz called a strike that was several inches off the plate or high in the strike zone.  The Rockies never got those pitches called a strike.

The game changes a lot for Game 3 on Saturday night when the Red Sox have to play National League Baseball and sit one of their hot bats.  I think that it will be a different game.  Rockies will win Game 3.

Go Rockies!

Rockies World Series Tickets, Was It A Malicious Attack?

I am beginning to have more and more questions about whether it was a malicious attack that brought down the Paciolan servers on Monday when the Colorado Rockies World Series Tickets went on sale Monday, October 22.
Here are some questions/points that are leading me to believe that Paciolan is covering up their failure to anticipate the server load that descended upon them.

  1. The contract that they have with Major League Baseball and their 700 other clients is probably huge.  They wouldn’t want to risk failing on a task as big as this and risk losing their contract.
  2. In July, 2007, they announced that they have reached an agreement with Ticketmaster to be acquired.  Paciolan would not want to risk anything that would jeopardize that agreement.  The sale to Ticketmaster probably brought a lot of money to the founders and investors of Paciolan.
  3. A lot of people were trying to get tickets.  They say that 8.5 million hits were made against their server in 90 minutes that the tickets were on sale.  In looking at the interest in these tickets and the problems that everyone was having, this is not that far-fetched. GMAIL Gets IMAP

Google has announced on their blog that they are now rolling out IMAP for GMAIL.  I am just going to say one-thing, YEAH!
I enjoy using the web application, but if I can sync my email and manage it locally on a device and it will sync back with the online version, I am all for that.

POP was good in its time, but IMAP is so much better.

Neumann Homes filing for bankruptcy

Neumann Homes filing for bankruptcy
Well it is official.  Neumann Homes has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  They have closed all their production, sales, and customer service offices.  They got hit hard by the housing slump and it looks like some acquisitions that they shouldn’t have made.

According to a story in the Denver Post, Plummeting sales level builder, Neumann had planned on selling over 1,000 homes and were only able to sell 81 of them.

We have some unfinished homes in our neighborhood (Harmony Park) and they were to be auctioned off on October 3.  But it is not known how that sell went.  It would nice to see them finished, but I don’t think that will happen soon with this filing.

Microsoft Invests in Facebook

According to a story in the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft Inks Deal with Facebook, Microsoft has agreed to invest $240 million in Facebook that values Facebook at $15 billion.
To get the investment, Microsoft out competed Google to make the investment in Facebook.

Microsoft will also begin running the sites international advertising.  Microsoft had previously been running the advertising on the U.S. site.

This is going to be interesting to see what happens.  The online battle over advertising is heating up. Microsoft is trying, but I think it is going to be tough road to climb against Google.

Tickets, None for me

Well I have been trying for over two hours and I am lost in an endless loop and no World Series tickets.  This system is not working.
I would like to know who is getting tickets.  I never get to the server.  People are getting tickets and then trying again and getting tickets again.  Why can’t I connect to the server?

It keeps trying after 120 seconds and then tries again.  I never get to the server.  I feel like I have wasted my time and just extremely upset with MLB and whatever, so-called ticket company is doing this sale.

I should have been able to connect to the server once in two hours.  According to the Rocky Mountain News, about 55,000 tickets were sold by 2 pm.

Rockies – Tickets are selling

Well according to a press conference the Rockies just had, the World Series tickets are selling, just slowly.
It would be interesting to hear of people who are actually getting tickets, because I am not seeing anyone who has actually got tickets say they have tickets.

Well, I will keep checking and let me know what you are experiencing during this mad and slow dash to find World Series Tickets.
