The Smithsonian, Trying to Stay Cool and Collected

The Smithsonian, Trying to Stay Cool and Collected – washingtonpost.com
This is a pretty interesting article that describes what the Smithsonian, our nations museum, must go through to get memorabilia for its collection.  They must compete against the likes of eBay, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Sotheby’s, and others.

I have been to the American History Museum several times and have enjoyed it every-time.  You can see Dorthy’s Ruby Slippers from the Wizard of Oz, Archie Bunker’s Chair, Kermit the Frog and other Muppet’s, and many other things.  It is a great place to visit.

But they are struggling these days because of all the outlets and opportunities for others to get the items.  For example, a lot of people like to sell items on eBay and the themed restaurants wanting them to decorate their restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood do.  They have a bunch more money than the government run Smithsonian has. Rockies Win, Lead Series 2-0

Source:  ESPN.com

Kaz Matsui hit a grand slam and the Colorado Rockies jumped out to a 2-0 series lead by beating the Philadelphia Phillies 10-5 this afternoon.

It was a great game and the Rockies just keep on hitting and the Phillies are struggling at the plate and on the mound.

One more to go and the Rockies will move on in the playoffs.

Go Rockies!

We Need a Solution For Water

The Colorado Index: We Need a Solution For Water
This is an interesting look at water in Colorado and need to have something done.  This post looks at some of the political wrangling around water in the State of Colorado.

Something needs to be done, but most people want to talk about it, and not take any action.  If something is not done soon, we will be short of water and and that is something that we don’t need to be short of.

Eric Young abondons Rockies

Eric Young, an original Rockies player, has abandoned them.  Young is a color analyst for ESPN and says that Jimmy Rollins will win the MVP and the Philadelphia Phillies will beat the Colorado Rockies.
I don’t think that will happen.  Matt Holliday will win the MVP and the Colorado Rockies will beat the Phillies.

Is the Apple TV officially a flop? (Or: How to fix Apple TV)

Is the Apple TV officially a flop? (Or: How to fix Apple TV) | Crave : The gadget blog
This is from the Crave blog on CNET.  I would have to agree that so far it is a flop and I have one.

One of the biggest complaints that I have is that the video resolution that I download is not that good.  As the article points out, the movie and television shows sold are optimized for the iPod and its smaller screens.

But when you view it on a HD television, it looks blurry.  It just doesn’t work.  Some video podcasts look a lot better than the television shows that I have purchased.

I would be intrigued with a rental option, but unless they get a higher resolution it would be a tough sell for me.  Since I have an HD television, I would like to see them as HD.

I like my Apple TV, but they need to improve it so it can continue to grow.

What an incredible game! Rocktober carries on!

Holliday scores winning run. From the Rocky Mountain NewsPhoto from Rocky Mountain News.

This has to be one of the best baseball games ever. The Rockies never quit and just kept coming.

To come back in the bottom of the 13, down by two, to win against Trevor Hoffman is shows what a great team this is.

Jamey Carroll is a workman who has been a utility man around the league for a while and came up big. Holliday came hard and tagged the plate to win the game. The Rockies are going to be tough to beat in the playoffs. They are coming in with a lot of momentum and will carry it into the playoffs.

Go Rockies!!!!!
