Why I won’t stay with Frontier if Southwest absorbs them

I think that everyone needs to be really nervous about Southwest acquiring Frontier Airlines.
Once the airport moved from Stapleton to Denver International Airport, DIA was one of the most expensive airports in the country to fly in or out of. There was one reason for this. No competition.

Once the move was made, United became the dominant carrier and Continental removed Denver as a hub city. There was really no one else here to keep United’s prices in check. And then came along Frontier. Continue reading “Why I won’t stay with Frontier if Southwest absorbs them”

Umpiring in MLB Deteriorating

The Major League Baseball umpires have gone down hill in the last several years. To me, they just don’t understand the game.
There are some good examples just this weekend.

Last night, a Diamondback busted it up the line and was past the bag when the ball got there, but the umpire called him out. It was quite obvious that he was safe. Then as soon as AJ Hinch gets out there, he gets tossed.

Another example is todays New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox game. Ramon Ramirez was tossed when he hit Alex Rodriguez. There is no way Ramirez is throwing at him. The Yankees are up 2 late in the game and he is pitching inside, which a pitcher needs to be able to do.

Umpires have no idea of the flow of the game, they get caught up in the emotion and make calls they shouldn’t. Many of them have egos and feel that they never are wrong.

They need to be humble. Being a Major League Umpire is a privilege, not a right.

Papa John’s Mobile Site Fails

I was out and trying to order pizza from Papa Johns over my mobile phone tonight and it just didn’t work.
I was able to sign in to my account, pick out the pizzas I wanted and change the toppings.

But when I went to check out, there was an error and I couldn’t place my order. I never could get it to work.

So for now, their mobile site is a fail.

Breckenridge’s wildfire-safety law, residents should be held responsible

Breckenridge’s wildfire-safety law rescinded – The Denver Post
Recently the homeowner’s in Breckenridge rolled back a law that is meant to protect homes, residents, and firefighters during a wildfire. This is plain stupid and ignorant.

Breckenridge and most mountain towns are having a big problem with homes moving out into the forest. But if there is a wildfire, there needs to be defensible space around that house to protect the home, homeowners, and specifically the firefighters who will be there trying to defend that space.

Well if homeowner’s don’t clear and thin the trees around their house, there will be no defensible space.

What Breckenridge was trying to do was put in an ordinance that required homeowners to do this so their would be defensible space. It was ground-breaking in Colorado.

Breckenridge is one of the mountain towns that has a lot of homes moving up into the trees. They are also having a big problem with the pine beetle, killing many of the trees that these homeowners are trying to protect.

But homeowners, many who live out-of-state, didn’t want to touch their beautiful trees. They felt the government was over-stepping their bounds. Well not me. Continue reading “Breckenridge’s wildfire-safety law, residents should be held responsible”

Liking the WordPress Blackberry Application

I just downloaded and began use a new application for my Blackberry, the WordPress Blackberry App.
With this application, you can update posts, write new posts, moderate comments, edit and post new pages, and more.

This application is much better than anything that is out there. Before I would have to send an email or fight through the website on my mobile device. But now I have an app that is developed for my phone. Something that is much easier to use.

It is still in Beta, but it is really stable and I enjoy it. Check it out.

The latest Harry Potter movie entertaining, but misses the mark

The latest Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was an entertaining a fun movie to watch. But they seem to miss the mark when they ventured to far from the book.
They seemed to change things to meet their needs rather than getting the necessary information out in the book.

  • They missed key aspects including all the trips Harry and Dumbledore made into the pensive.
  • They butchered the ending with the fight when they reduced it and missed many key facts about Dumbledore talking with Malfoy.
  • The whole beginning when Dumbledore gathered Harry at his aunts and uncles house and what he told Harry prior to walking into the Weasley’s house.
  • and several other things.

The way J.K. Rowling wrote the books, it would have been really easy to write a movie script to accomodate the books. But while it was an entertaining movie, it missed many key aspects of the story that will be needed in the final edition.

Incredible Thunderstorm Hits Denver Metro Area

Luckily I didn’t get hit with the hail, but the rain was amazing. I have never seen it hit us this bad here.

Damage reports are just coming in and it doesn’t sound good in the Arvada, Golden, and Lakewood. Trees are down, power is out, and there is a lot of hail still on the ground. Hail and the winds were pretty significant.

We’ll have to see how things go in the morning.

MLB Baseball Rule is bad, Manny Ramirez shouldn’t be allowed to play until suspension is up

Manny Ramirez should still be sitting somewhere other than a ballpark. He was suspended back in May for 50 games and shouldn’t be playing again until July 3.
But Manny is making the rehabilitation tour and it began this week in Albuquerque. He is now making the move to the Dodgers’ High A team.

I would have to agree with Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News who says that ESPN and others shouldn’t be celebrating Ramirez’s return. He says it best, “Only in the twisted world of Major League Baseball could a serious suspension be turned into a nationally televised victory lap with a financial upside.”

Manny should be sitting and not able to go back to a minor league team to get ready for the big leagues until the 50 games are up. He shouldn’t even be able to practice at the teams stadium like Manny has been doing.

If this were a minor leaguer, they wouldn’t be able to get a rehab assignment.

MLB, clean up this loophole and clean up the game. We don’t need to be celebrating what Manny Ramirez did.

Major League Baseball and Colorado Rockies need to improve their online ticketing

I just want to say that Major League Baseball and the Colorado Rockies need to improve thier online ticketing.
The ticketing process is timing out so I am unable to purchase tickets.  I want to give them money, but their processes are preventing that from happening.

What is happening is that I am choosing tickets, but I don’t like where they put me. So I release the tickets and try again. When I try to get back in, the site times out. I can’t get tickets.

This happened to me yesterday. I was trying to get tickets and I ended up having to go to the game and wait 45 minutes in line to get tickets.

It is quite frustrating and I wish they would improve it so this stops happening.
