Rockies Offense Wakes Up

Well it took until the sixth inning but the Rockies woke up offensively and put up 13 runs over three innings and beat the Cubs 15-2.
It got started by a Jamey Carroll grand slam home run in the sixth and they kept piling it on.

Way to go Rockies.  Let’s see some more tomorrow and split the series with the Cubs.  Lets just hope the Diamondbacks start losing some games.

Go Rockies.

Cubs Haunt Rockies

I don’t know what it is, but the Chicago Cubs haunt the Colorado Rockies.
There is always one team that you have trouble with, and this year for the Rockies I think that team is the Cubs.

The Rockies were swept earlier this year at Wrigley Field and so far in this weekend series the Cubs are taking it to the Rockies, holding the top offense in the league to only a couple of runs.

Lets hope the Rockies offense comes alive for the remaining two games and the Rockies can split the series and get back in the NL West race.

Go Rockies!

Rockies Win, But Night Belongs to Barry

The Rockies had an incredible evening, scoring 11 runs to win big.  The thing is that they scored those 11 runs after the sixth inning.
But the night belongs to Barry who hit his 756th home run this evening.

Despite all the controversy, Barry Bonds holds the record and for now, no one can take it away from him.

It was a nice commemoration of the home run and the video from Hank Aaron was all class, just how he played the game.

Congrats Barry and congrats Hammering Hank!

Rory Sabbatini should learn to keep his mouth shut

Rory Sabbatini should learn to keep his mouth shut.
After the Wachovia Championship earlier this year, he said that Tiger Woods was more beatable than ever.

Well, he had his opportunity to back it up on the course, and he embarrassed himself and Tiger made a statement at the Bridgestone Championship.

After entering the fourth round trailing by one, Tiger put the pedal to the metal and shot a 65.  What did Sabbatini do?  He shot an 74.  He was flat out embarrassed by Woods.

Sabbatini has had several opportunities to back up his mouth, and he has not even come close.  I hope he just fades away. He will never match Woods in play or class.

Wood made a statement today.  The field at the PGA Championship should just plain watch out.

Bonds Crushes #754

Like it or not, Bonds crushed #754 in his first at bat this evening on the fourth pitch to center field.
It took that ball that was up and on the outside of the plate and went with it.  He didn’t pull off it.

It was just crushed.

Let’s see what happens the rest of the weekend.

Rockies vidicated by Major League Baseball

During the Colorado Rockies last road trip through Pittsburgh, the official scorer made some horrible mistakes.  Well Major League Baseball has corrected those mistakes.
On a bunt to Taylor Buchholz through a high throw to first baseman  Todd Helton causing Todd to come of the base.  For some idiotic reason the official scorer ruled that it was an error on Helton.  It should have been an error on Buchholz.

Well Major League Baseball agreed changing the error to Buchholz from Helton.

The second blunder came with LaTroy Hawkins pitching. Continue reading “Rockies vidicated by Major League Baseball”

Why can’t ABC broadcast British Open in HD?

ABC usually does a wonderful job in covering the British Open, but this year they have lost the lead to TNT.  One of the main reasons is that they are not broadcasting the coverage in HD.
TNT has covered the British Open, or Open Championship as it is called everywhere else, in full HD in the correct aspect ratio for the first two rounds.  But ABC has picked up coverage for the weekend and they are broadcasting the Open in the traditional 16:9.

In sports coverage these days, why can’t ABC broadcast the Open in full HD.  If TNT is doing it, ABC certainly can.  They broadcast other sporting events in HD and their sister network ESPN does almost all HD broadcast these days.

CBS and NBC are broadcasting all golf events in HD these days.  NBC even broadcast the celebrity event in Lake Tahoe in HD.

If ABC wants to play with the big boys, they need to broadcast all their events in HD.  Get with the times ABC.

Why I Hate MLB.TV

I am a premium subscriber to MLB.TV.  This allows me to watch baseball games streaming live at 700k.  The problem is that I can’t watch my local team, the Colorado Rockies because they are blacked out.
I don’t usually have a problem with this except when I am traveling or the game is not broadcast on TV.

For example, I am home today still recovering from a surgery and the game is not being broadcast on local television.  But because Major League Baseball blacks out all games of the team in your local market, I can’t watch it.

Major League Baseball should make exceptions for games that are not being broadcast locally and allow people to watch them over the Internet.  Especially if they are paying over $125 for the season to subscribe.

Traveling is a different matter.  I guess I will go with Slingbox to watch the games while I am away.  That is if MLB doesn’t shut them down.

Well I will be listening to the game on the radio today.  Go Rockies!
