Day Light Savings Goes Away Until March

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back on Sunday morning at 2 A.M.  Day Light Savings ends and won’t show up again until March.
I am not quite understanding Congress’s reasoning behind moving DST back one week from the last Sunday in October until the first Sunday in November.  This week has been especially hard because the sun has been coming up so late that it has been hard to get motivated in the morning.

But the time has come to begin getting up in the dark and heading home in the dark.  Have I ever told you how I hate the winter?  I love May, June, & July when we have extremely long days and the sun is up for a long time.

I loved it when I was living in northern Idaho and the sun wouldn’t set until almost 10 P.M. or later in the summer.

Well I guess it will be time to get out and take walks at lunch now, otherwise I will never see the sun during the week.

See you in March DST.

The Fall of Nebraska Cornhusker Football Continues, YES!

The fall of the Nebraska Cornhuskers continues. At the end of the second quarter they have allowed Kansas to put 48 points on them. That is amazing. Who would have thought that they would have fallen so far.
They are going to have a tough time making a bowl game this year. They are now 4-5 on the season and have if they lose this game they will be 4-6. They will have to win the two remaining games, home against Kansas State and on the road at Colorado. Two tough games against teams that are a lot better than they are. My bet, 4-8 finish for the Cornhuskers.

They should have known better than to hire Bill Callahan as a coach. He was a failure with the Oakland Raiders and is now with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He will certainly be fired as the coach after this season. Continue reading “The Fall of Nebraska Cornhusker Football Continues, YES!”

Rockies Tickets, anyone?

Rockies tickets, anyone?
This is a great opinion column in today’s Rocky Mountain News that addresses the ethics of what the Rockies did and how the Rockies handled distributed tickets.

From a business and public relations standpoint, the Rockies messed up.  They limited the tickets to a few who could get in to the computer system.  It created a lot of unhappy people.

From what I understand what happened, once people got in to purchase tickets, they could stay in there and purchase tickets.  This alienated many of the Rockies fans who for some reason were unable to get in. Continue reading “Rockies Tickets, anyone?”

Builder going bankrupt, homeowners on their own

9NEWS – Builder going bankrupt, homeowners on their own
More on Neumann Homes and their bankruptcy. They have completely abandoned their developments and are leaving homes unfinished. These are homes that have been sold to people who are now out their down payments.

Also, homeowners who closed within the last year are now out the one-year warranty that they have paid for. We utilized the one year warranty to fix little things that affected our house. Problems with toilets, the wood floors, some concrete work, and problems with the windows. We were able to get them fixed. But now, that won’t be covered by Neumann for those other homeowners.

Finally many homeowners are in limbo because Neumann Homes has actually not filed for Chapter 11 yet. They have announced that they will, but they haven’t yet. So there is confusion in the air. Continue reading “Builder going bankrupt, homeowners on their own”

DIA looking to ease security lines

9NEWS – Article – DIA looking to ease security lines
The problem is not the lines or the people in the lines, it is the people that are hired by the Transportation Security Administration  to watch the monitors and make sure that nothing bad is getting on.

Most of them are rude and have a power complex.  They have power over you.  They can make your life hell.

In one experience I had going through DIA security, there was a couple from Denver who spoke very little english and they were going on a visit to their former home in Bulgaria.

To try and communicate with them, the TSA person just spoke louder.  She never tried to slow down and speak calmly and try to understand where these people were coming from.  It was quite rude. Continue reading “DIA looking to ease security lines”

Happy Halloween

Well it is another Halloween in Denver and it is raining and snowing around town.  Just a typical Halloween around here.
It is going to be nice and chilly around here tonight when we take the kids around the neighborhood.

Stay safe.

Chris Pirillo: Apple Trusts Us, Microsoft Doesn’t

Chris Pirillo has a really good point about the new Leopard release. Apple trusts you. They don’t require activation. If you buy the one disc version, it trusts you to install it on one computer. If you buy the family pack, you can install it on up to five computers.
The problem is that Microsoft doesn’t trust you. It has a complicated authentication process and digital rights that returns a large number of errors that disables Windows for users who have a legal copy.

Check this out.
