University of Idaho President Leaves for UC Riverside, why?

University of Idaho President Tim White has announced that he is leaving to take over as Chancellor of the University of California Riverside.  My question is why?
There is no way that UC Riverside is better than the University of Idaho.  UC Riverside has more students (17,000 to about 12,000), but that is about it.  They will be getting a medical school soon, but that is about it. The one negative at Idaho is that you are under much more of a microscope than other schools.

The quality of life and a residential community is so much better at the University of Idaho.  There is a lot more to do, the weather is better, the traffic is non-existent in Moscow compared to Riverside.

At least I can breathe in Moscow, Idaho.  At Riverside you breathe nothing but 100% pure California smog.

President White did a great job at Idaho and I guess he thought it was time to move on. I hope that the Idaho State Board of Education moves quickly, but deliberately in getting someone who will take the University of Idaho to the next level.

Snow, freezing temperatures tonight, Tuesday : The Rocky Mountain News
Tell me about it. I was playing softball and the umpire didn’t stop the game and made us stand out there and freeze. I thought we were going to kill ourselves.

It was so dark we could barely see the ball, the wind was blowing so it was tough to catch the balls that you could see, the bases were so slippery and covered with mud – if you could find the bag you will kill yourself when you slipped on it, and it was so cold and wet that you couldn’t grip the bat.

Well we lost and now I am wet, cold, and miserable.

I am ready to crawl into bed and just get warm. I need something warm to drink.

I am a TWIT too!

I like and listen to several of the podcasts that are on twit.tv by Leo Laporte. They are informative, entertaining, and are a great community. I feel that I know many of the people that are on the various podcasts that I listen to.
Well ringtonefeeder has developed a video and has posted it on YouTube and has captured most of what being a TWIT is. Take a look and enjoy.

Don’t use Teleflora for flower orders, service is horrible

f you are thinking about using Teleflora to order flowers for someone or something. DON’T! Run away to another service. They are horrible and don’t deliver when they say they will.
I ordered flowers for my mother for Mother’s Day for delivery today, May 10. I have a confirmation that it would be delivered today.

Was it, NO!

The excuse that I got when I called customer service was that they couldn’t find a florist to do the bouquet that I ordered and have it delivered today. They don’t deliver on Sunday.

So the earliest that it will be delivered will be on Monday. They gave me a discount for that, but i am not holding my breath.

Now I am screwed and my mother is not going to get flowers for Mother’s Day. Great job Teleflora.

When I called customer service, they had a chance to step up and make things right and try to keep my future business, but they blew it and won’t have my service again, ever.

I asked the customer service agent why I should use Teleflora in the future, it was silent. He didn’t know how to answer.

I hope the flowers are delivered on Monday so my Mother will have a Mother’s Day gift, even though it is a day late. But if they are not, Teleflora is going to get a call and I won’t stop calling until something is taken care of.

If you want to order flowers online, don’t use Teleflora!

Why you need to pay attention at baseball games…

This is the perfect example of why you need to pay attention when you are at a baseball game. A women sitting behind first base took a foul ball on the chin from Willy Taveras of the Colorado Rockies.

She was checked out at the ballparks first aid station and then taken to the hospital for stitches.

This is why when you are at the baseball game you need to pay attention and possibly take a glove. Balls are coming off that bat extremely fast and have spin on them.

Major League Baseball does its best to protect fans, but it can’t do everything.

WordPress – Categories vs Tags

I use WordPress and have always struggled with the difference between categories and tags. There has been no real analogy for those so I could place it in my mind on how to use them.
Well I was listening to The WordPress Podcast and they were discussing the best part of WordCamp Dallas and someone put it into perspective for me.

The best way I have seen it described is that tags are the index and categories are the table of contents. It has really helped me understand and fine-tune my blog.

Thanks for doing The Voices of WordCamp Dallas. It has really helped me and I wasn’t even there.

What is up with Vitalist?

I have been a user of Vitalist for quite some time and have found it quite useful. I have tried other systems, including RTM, and have kept coming back.
But, it has not changed in quite some time and a promised update for last winter has not materialized. It is quite frustrating when you are a subscriber and it feels that nothing is happening.

Why do I like Vitalist?
Vitalist does a good job at keeping track of the items that I need to do. It does what it is supposed to do and I can really adjust my to do’s based upon my priorities for the day.

It is also a really good capture program. It is great just to email my to and it is captured in the system. Or even better, I just use Jott and it is there.

What my hope is
My hope is that Vitalist will continue to develop and I am looking forward to their beta being opened up more and I hope that it is deployed pretty soon. If I am a subscriber I am looking for things to develop and keep moving forward.

Vitalist is a good product, I can’t wait for the new version to come out. But I can’t wait that long.

Burma – the Junta should be charged with crimes against

The rejection of aid by Burmese government should be a sign and trigger that the Burmese government leaders should be charged with crimes against humanity.
They are knowingly killing people and no one can do anything about it. It is just sad.

The world community should do whatever they can to get these killers out of there.

Who can do that? China.

They are the only country that has a slimmer of influence over them. But will that happen? I doubt it.

You can see China’s influence on Sudan and their repression of Tibet. They could care less and also don’t care what happens to people, especially in countries where they carry a significant amount of
influence.

China wants to be a world power and influencer in the world, they should begin to act like it.

Right now, let’s hope the military junta comes to their senses and begins to let in aid to help the hundreds of thousands of people who need it.
