In-N-Out Burger is the place for burgers

I just want to say, that anytime I am at a location in California or Nevada where there is an In-N-Out Burger, I am there at least once.
The burgers are just perfect and the wash down perfectly with a milkshake.

I don’t know what it is, but a double-double, fries, and a milkshake are the perfect meal.  The meat is juicy, the cheese is just melted over the hamburger, and the vegetables are fresh.

The potatoes are cut into fries just before the are put in the fryer.  Nothing frozen here.

There is such a cult following, that there is a secret menu for ordering besides the three burgers.  There is a short-list on their website, but the real list is on the internet.

If you are in California or Western Nevada, find an In-N-Out Burger and try it out.

Schooner Tour a must do in New York City

The Schooner Day Sail is a must do in New York. We were on the Adirondack.
The Schooner Adirondack

The staff is great, the views are amazing, and it is definitely worth the time. It doesn’t get better than cruising down the Hudson from Chelsea Piers only under the power of the wind.  When the sailboat catches the wind, we were passing some of the tour boats under power.

The tour starts out with the boat under power to get away from the piers, but as soon as you are in open water, they drop the sails and you head south toward the Statue of Liberty and Eilis Island.

Once they have the sails trimmed, the crew comes around and asks what type of drink you would like and then it is a relaxing two hours.

You get to see Manhattan and its wonderful skyline from the water, you get up close to the Statue of Liberty and Eilis Island, and you get a cool and relaxing couple of hours on the water.

It really helps to be on the water when it is really hot and humid.  You get some relief from the heat.

The price is not bad either.  It was only $40 each for two hour Day sail plus a tip for the crew.

Take the time and enjoy the Schooner Day Sail while you are in New York City. You won’t forget it.

University of Idaho researcher faces deportation back to Poland

Local News | UI researcher faces deportation back to Poland | Seattle Times Newspaper
I just want to say that this is the most stupid things that I have heard of. A Univesity of Idaho researcher who is studying bioterrorism defenses for the FBI was denied citizenship because she illegally worked for 8 months because the immigration and Naturalization Service didn’t like the photo she submitted.

This is horrible, wrong, and many other things including expletives.

Not only is it affecting her, it is affecting her husband and their son.  Her husband is researching ways to fight diseases such as AIDS, can longer receive grants to do that work.

Their son is stuck because he can no longer receive tuition reimbursement from his work so he can’t go to college.

The kicker is that they weren’t doing anything wrong. They were playing by the rules and doing everything you were supposed to do.  Where they got into trouble is that the INS didn’t like the photos that she submitted, so it delayed her annual work permit.

When they finally got a photo they liked, her annual permit had expired.  She ended up working eight months without a permit.  She tried to do the right thing and checked, but got some bad advice.

This is just plain stupid and wrong.  Our country is and Immigration and Naturalization Service is wrong.

The INS is a horrible organization.  There are many people who have come here illegally and they do nothing.  But a family who is doing everything by the book and doing tremendous research to help this country and the world is denied citizenship and shipped home because the INS didn’t like her photo is wrong and needs to be corrected.

No wonder immigration is screwed up in this country.  Something needs to be fixed and fixed now!

Major League Baseball, get some better umpires

Major League Baseball, please get some better umpires.  In tonight’s game between the Colorado Rockies and Florida Marlins they blew a couple of calls that cost the Colorado Rockies. Luckily the Rockies now have a 5-0 lead.
The first blown call, Ubaldo Jimenez was up and he foul tipped a ball into the dirt and into the glove of the catcher with two strikes.  It should have been a foul ball, but it wasn’t.

The umpires were not paying attention and ruled it in out saying the catcher caught the ball.  Even the first base umpire, Bob Davidson who was out of baseball for a while because of misjudgments, didn’t see it hit the dirt called him out.

Give me a break!

It gets even worse.

With a runner on first base and no outs, Garrett Atkins hit one to center field.  The umpire ruled that it was a catch and they doubled off the runner for two outs.  The replays clearly showed that it was a short-hop and not a catch.

The umpire who was supposed to get into position to see the play from a different angle, didn’t move and wasn’t in the right position.  So when Clint Hurdle came out to question the call, the umpires did the obligatory gathering and still ruled them out.

Umpires never over-rule themselves and will protect the original call.  It is just stupid.

Major League Baseball always keeps secret how they deal with umpires, but that should change.  They need to be open.  They also need to institute instant replay immediately.

The umpires are doing a disservice to the the players, the Game, and the fans.  If Major League Baseball should hold the game to the highest standard, when they have umpires who can’t do the same, they should be gone.

In the meantime, let the technology help them out and be used in the games. NOW!

The Colorado Rockies stand still on the trading deadline

The Colorado Rockies have stood still on the Major League Baseball trading deadline and then proceed to get blown out in Miami by the Florida Marlins.   It is currently 10-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
I am wondering if this was a good thing or not.  Their pitching has been great lately, but the bullpen has blown some games and tonight their starting pitcher didn’t even last two innings.

Nothing is wrong with their offense, but there pitching has been suspect.  In my opinion, it would have been nice if they would have gone out and done something.

But I guess nothing wasn’t there.  Let’s see what happens the rest of the way this season.
