Democrats’ latest idea: gas stamps

TheHill.com – Democrats’ latest idea: gas stamps
You have got to be kidding. Gas stamps?  Is this the only thing the Democrats have?

Gas stamps are throw back to the great depression.  This is a great example of a top-down, entitlment approach to government the democrats are known for.

Instead of looking for ways to lower the price of gas, they are pushing an answer that is over 70 years old and technology that is still in the laboratory.

We need real action on maximizing our oil and gas supplies today while planning for the future, utilizing new technology that will help us in the future.

Not take a big step backwards!

Tree sitters in Berkeley cost California $21 Million plus

Tree sitters cost state $21M plus
The tree sitters at the University of California (Berkeley) have cost the state of California over $21 Milion and they are only being charged with misdemenors. They finally came out of the last tree this last week.

That is ridiculous, just ridiculous!

For those of you who don’t know, the Unviersity of California wanted to build a sports training center and make iife/safety code fixes to Memorial Stadium.  In order to do that, they needed to cut down a grove of oaks and redwoods.

The extremists took exception to the plan to cut the trees. It didn’t matter that they weren’t students or affiliated in any way with the University.  It also didn’t matter that the University was going to plant over two trees for everyone they took down.

They recently lost the last of their court challenges.

I feel that it is ridiculous and crazy that these people are only being charged with misdemenors.  They all should be charged with a felony and forced to reimburse the University and state of California.

What they cost the state and the Unviersity is more than money. The city was the laughing stock of the nation when Tennesse fans invaded last year. It also solidified the reputation of Berkeley being the nutcase of the world.

Scrabble on Facebook is worthless

I just want to say that Scrabble on Facebook is just plain worthless.
I am playing a game and it keeps taking letters of the table and points from me.  When I go back to play those same letters where I played them before, that spot is not open.

I miss Scrabulous!  It was stable, easy-to-use, and fun.

The new Scrabbleis horrible, a bad way to do business.

If they were going to do this, they should have had something working first!

University of Arizona football a model for bad sportsmanship

I just want to say that the University of Arizona football team will get theirs sometime this season.  They are the perfect model for bad sportsmanship.
This Saturday, they are playing the University of Idaho in Tucson.  I will be the first to say that Idaho was over-matched in this game.  No doubt about that.

As the favorite you want to beat your opponent, but you don’t want to embarrass them.  But at the end of the second half, Arizona got the ball on their 45 yard-line with about 39 seconds to go.  At this time, they had a 35-0 lead.

They then proceeded to air the ball out and call time outs and scored a touchdown with four seconds left.

You just don’t do that.  You take a knew or run a couple of running plays.  As I said, you don’t embarrass the opponent.

Now you are probably saying that Idaho should stop them and if they can’t, then so be it.  But that is not sportsmanship.

Stoops and the University of Arizona showed their true character tonight, they don’t have any.  I hope when they get to the Pac 10 league schedule, they get their throats stomped on and embarrassed.

I don’t usually root for USC, but they play Arizona in Tucson and will definitely be rooting for the men of Troy.

Denver Police are giving Denver a bad name – Democrats helping

The Denver Police Department continue to give the City of Denver a bad name. It only escalated today when they arrested a reporter/producer for ABC news who was investigating a breakfast meeting between Democrat Senators and high value donors.
I usually try and give the Police the benefit of the doubt, but they have gone way to far during the DNC.  We have a consitution in this country and the Denver Police and other law enforcement are not following it.

The reporter/producer was standing on the sidewalk and a hotel guard came out of the Brown Palace, who happened to be a Boulder County Sheriff.  The guard then proceeded to push him out into the street.

A little while later, at least five Denver Police officers came back and arrested the reporter.  They say the Brown Palace signed a complaint. How can they sign a complaint against someone who is doing nothing wrong on a public sidewalk?

Originally they wouldn’t tell ABC what he was being arrested for, but then came back and said that he was being arrested on charges of interference, trespass and failure to obey a lawful order.

How can that be?  The video clearly shows that he is on a public sidewalk and he and his crew are not blocking it.

Tuesday, a women was in civic center park protesting when they saw someone getting arrested. They were trying to find out why when a police officer came up and pushed her knocking her to the ground (she alleges that she was hit about four times by the same officer).

The video shows the officer saying, “Back up, b—-“.  She was then speaking with reporters and the police came up and grabbed her and arrested her.

At least the Denver Police Internal Affairs is investigating and the officer has been reassigned away from assignments that will bring him in contact with protestors.

The Democrats, who play themselves as defenders of the First Amendment, are doing their best to silence the media and the Denver Police are playing into their hands.

As an American, whether or not you agree with what the reporter or the protestor was doing, you should stand-up and defend their right to do so.  It is a basic right for anyone to do so.  Anything less would be un-American.

Font Conference Video from College Humor had me rolling

I know I am a little bit late, it came out a month ago, but I just heard about it and had to watch it.
I was rolling in my chair laughing.  It was hilarious.  This was put together by some really funny people at CollegeHumor.com.

I work with fonts off and on my day in my job and have discussions with people on what we should use on other things.  In addition, we put together some branding for my agency and I was on the team to help with that. The discussions we had on what fonts to use.

This just brings it all together and makes the discussion of fonts funny.  College Humor nailed it!

Apple Grants 60 Day Extension to Mobile Me

Just received an email from Apple and if you had a Mobile Me account by August 19, you will receive a 60-day extension.

We are working very hard to make MobileMe a great service we can all be proud of. We know that MobileMe’s launch has not been our finest hour, and we truly appreciate your patience as we turn this around.

I think this is a good development.  Mobile Me has not had a really good launch and there have been a lot of problems.  I think this extension is a good gesture to those of us who subscribe to Mobile Me.

I just wish my work didn’t block access to it so I could get my email during the day.  I guess I will have to get an iPhone.

Marble for Unknowns tomb just sits

Marble for Unknowns tomb just sits – The Denver Post
This is where the government procurement policies and procedures have gone wrong.

The marble of the tomb of the Unknown Soldier is failing and needs to be replaced.  A retired car dealer, John Haines, has donated a piece of marble from the same quarry and has even lined up donated transportation to get it to Arlington National Cemetery for free.

But Arlington National Cemetery and the U.S. Army are balking at the free donation. Instead they have estimated it to cost $2.2 million, including $80,000 to just accept bids on the project.

In the article, this is what Thurman Higginbotham, Deputy Superintendent of Arlington National Cemetery had say about the donated marble.

“It’s not doable. A citizen can’t just give us any piece of marble and say, ‘This is what we’ll use to replace the tomb,’ ”

As a taxpayer and a citizen I think the Army and Arlington National Cemetery need to investigate whether the marble will work for the tomb or not.  Not just dismiss it outright.

If it works, great.  You have a free piece of marble that will save you the $90,000 you think it will cost to purchase and transport.  If it doesn’t, that is fine, but at least look at it.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a special place and means a lot to people.  They were doing this out of respect and have found a special piece of marble to serve as the replacement.  Arlington National Cemetery should recognize that.
