MLB: Why Can’t I Watch the Rockies-Giants Today?

Hey MLB, why can’t I watch the Rockies-Giants game this afternoon?
You have instituted some weird national blackout of games that are scheduled before 7:00 PM EDT. Because of this inane policy, I won’t be able to watch the Rockies game.

It’s not the Rockies fault, they weren’t the one who scheduled the game. The Giants did. If you want to blackout the game in their television market, fine. But I am 1,000 miles away in Colorado and have no chance to attend the game.

Oh, and the reason you have this blackout in place is so I can watch the NY Mets vs Philadelphia on Fox. I could care less of that game.

MLB, I want to watch the Rockies game, get rid of this arcane blackout restriction so I can watch my team.

This blackout is only hurting the fans.

Sharks Win Series, Avalanche Have Great Season

The Sharks were the best team this series and it really showed the last three games.
Even though the series was once tied at two games a piece, the turning point was in game two when the Avs were up 5-4 late and lost. If they win that one it puts a lot of pressure on the Sharks.

But the Avs did have a great season. They were picked to finish last in the west and they fought their way into the playoffs. We saw the coming of age of a bunch of young players.

The future looks quite bright for the Avs. I’m looking forward to next season.

NHL Officiating is incompetent

The NHL officials have proven how incompetent tonight by just watching the Avs-Sharks game tonight.
They have called several ticky-tack penalties on the Avs in the first period and nothing on San Jose. One of those penalties gave the Sharks a 2-0 lead.

There were several times where they let Blake get away with holding and a cross check and didn’t call it. Andy got tripped by a Shark, no interference.

It then went over the top with a scrum behind the Sharks net. Mcginn for the Sharks had dropped the gloves and was pounding Duchene in the head.

What do the refs call? An extra minor on the Avs. This is just horrible. Right now, the refs have called 22 penalties on the Avs and only 10 on the Sharks.

I watch a lot of hockey and this series has had the worst refs and I think it is a reflection of the NHL. I think they have it out for the Avs.

I hope it gets better in the 3rd period, but I doubt it. I think this game is out-of-hand.

A rude TSA Worker

This morning I experienced the most unprofessional TSA employee of all my travel experiences.
Now let me begin by saying that all the TSA employees I have previously encountered have been professional and have good dealings.

This incident didn’t happen to me, but to one person in front of me and a person behind me in line.

The first person got lectured about not meeting the new name requirements. The agent said, “I can stamp this void and send you back to the counter.” That is just rude.

The second person laid their documents down on the table before he was ready and the agent stopped and said, “pick those up.” Then the guy picked them up and said sorry I was just trying to make things easier.

The next thing out of the agents mouth just shocked me. “I don’t come dump paper on your desk do I?”

That is not what the traveler was trying to do. The traveler then said something else, I didn’t think it was a big deal, and the TSA agent said, “Do you want to go to the back of the line?”

That is just an abuse of power. Just bad.

After going through the security, the traveler got a card to send in a letter of complaint. The TSA agent then comes up to the supervisor wanting to know what the guy was complaining about and then proceeds to complain about the traveler.

I work in public affairs and communication with the public is essential to have support and understanding. Bad employees like this give the TSA and other federal employees a bad name.

This has got to be the worst written job announcement ever…

Vail Resorts has advertised for a customer relations director and I think it is the worst ever job announcement.
The description of the job is:

The Customer Relationship Marketing (CRM) team is responsible for leveraging increased and enhanced guest interaction from acquisition to retention, building on that interaction to develop a relationship which enables increased guest revenue and visits, more efficient marketing and an improved and informed customer experience.
The primary purpose of the CRM Director will be to manage the CRM team and all associated CRM projects, including the creation and production of marketing communications utilizing a campaign management tool built to leverage all marketing campaigns in a highly segmented, customized fashion.  This position will focus on driving revenue through past guests and maintaining and growing customer loyalty and retention.
It gets even better when you get to the bullets of the job description.
  • Direct, shape and develop the Customer Relationship Marketing strategy and vision for Vail Resorts.
  • Lead the design and integration of customer segmentation programs and targeting marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and implement the long term CRM blueprint and roadmap.
  • As the business owner, collaborate with Vail IT and direct the development and enhancements of customer-centric database(s)
  • Oversee and drive alignment of corporate and resort property marketing programs.
  • I understand that you are trying to describe to the best of your ability, but this is just ridiculous. Just get rid of all those horrible terms like leverage, design and integration, etc. Just right a better announcement.

    Spring in Colorado

You just got to love the weather in Colorado, particularly the spring weather.
This past week, it was in the low 70’s for a couple days, but from Thursday to Friday the temperatures dropped 35 degrees and we got about 6 inches of snow.

Well today the temps started warming up and now the snow is mostly melted. It will warm up to the 60’s but we are now into a pattern of rain/snow storms every 3-5 days.

One thing is for sure, this moisture will help green up the yards for summer.

You have to love Spring in Colorado.
