Thoughts & Experiences from the Mile High City
Another snowstorm is bearing down upon the Denver area.
By tomorrow evening it will be extremely cold and we could have up to 5 inches of snow.
I just love winter!
Well winter is finally upon us this year in the Mile High City. We had several inches of snow last Saturday and more snow last night and today. The commute this morning and evening was crazy. It took about three times as long to get anywhere. Tomorrow morning may not be better.
And there is more snow coming. There is another storm coming on Friday and we are expected to get another one to three inches then.
Tonight was quite fun when I got home with the kids. My son came out with me and we shoveled the steps and the sidewalk together. He was having a lot of fun shoveling the snow with daddy. He did a good job, but a couple times he would turn to shovel the snow and would flip around and land back on the sidewalk.
But that didn’t matter. It was good to do something fun with him
Well the first big snowfall of the season is hitting Denver. It is nice to see. (Let’s see if I am saying that in a month or two.)
We need the moisture and the mountains are getting hammered. If you want to ski the Colorado Rockies, now is the time. They are measuring the snow in feet, so now is a good time to go.
Let’s hope this is a good sign to come for the winter. We need the water out west and the winter snowfall is how we get most of it.
YEAH!
Keep the snow machine humming and dumping snow in Colorado.

This is a wonderful photo that was taken by the Denver Post of the storm moving in over the metro area. This storm produced a lot of rain and some flooding and led to the Rockies game to be canceled this evening.

Way to go Denver Post and capturing this photo. Here is the story, Rain, lightning greet weekend.
I just want to say what a rip-off air conditioners can be.
We installed an air conditioner last year for about $3,000 to $4,000 and it worked ok for the first summer. But when we fired it up this summer, it was not working.
Well I couldn’t get the company that installed our air conditioner, Heat Exchange, to come out for two weeks. We found Applewood Plumbing, Heading & Electric to come out within a couple days. Continue reading “Air Conditioning – Money Sinks”
Well Denver hit a record high of 100 degrees today. This is the fourth day this month that the a record high has been broken.
It is even hotter when your air condition is not working properly.
We switched it over to air conditioning earlier in June, but it has stopped sending cool air through the system. The air coming out of the registers was measured at 70 degrees. That is not cutting it.
We have been able to manage with cooling off the home through the evening, but it has just been to hot.
Hopefully it can be fixed on Tuesday when the repair man is coming. Just in time for it to cool down.
I spend most of the winter in Denver where the weather has been increadibly cold and snowy. In fact, for the months of December, January, and February it has snowed 1 in every 4 days. In the east, it has been mild and warm.
But as soon as I come to Washington, DC, the weather turns cold and snows and the weather in Denver is in the 60’s. Why can’t it just stay put?
I can’t wait to return to the warmth of the Denver area.
In an article in the ColoradoBix Magazine, “Poop removal priority after snow“, they captured the need to get all that dog poop off the backyard.
I am with all of them on this. We have a golden retreiver and we are having the same problem. The snow keeps covering it all up and you can’t pick it up.
I was able to get about half the yard picked up a week ago, but the rest of the yard was still covered in snow and I was unable to get there. I am just hoping we have a little break so that I can get the rest of it picked up.
It is going to be a crazy spring, but let me get the dog poop picked up.
It is nice and cold here in Denver this morning. The temperature is 0 degrees with a wind chill of -7. It is not as bad as Billings, Mont. with a wind chill of -40 this morning.
Stay warm everyone.
