Trying Opera Again, but maybe not for long

Well I am trying Opera again after continuously having problems with it in earlier versions, especially with WordPress which I use to manage this blog.
I am hoping the upgrade to 9.22 will improve how it works and how the webpages I view are displayed.

I know that Opera is a true browser and uses standards to display everything appropriately and that it is the web programmers fault for not developing to the standards.

Well, if I can’t read the websites that I want, then why should I use it.

Someone convince me.

Cisco axes Linksys branding – Engadget
Interesting since in the home market, Linksys is it in the United States.  Cisco is more known for the business market even though they have been making Linksys systems for a while.

I think that this could come back and haunt Cisco because the consumer market does not like change that much, especially something that they know.  And what they know is Linksys.

Harry Potter Finale Worth It

I just want to say that I just finished reading the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, of Harry Potter’s trials and tribulations and I have to say that J.K. Rowling got it right and it finished the way it should.
I don’t think that it could have been better.  I also enjoyed the epilogue as it wrapped up the whole story and ensured who ended up with who, who survived, and that everyone was getting along well.

I am not going to say much more because my wife hasn’t finished reading it yet and she reads this, so she would kill me.

Thanks J.K. Rowling for the wonderful ride and entertainment.  I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to read this wonderful story.

Rockies vidicated by Major League Baseball

During the Colorado Rockies last road trip through Pittsburgh, the official scorer made some horrible mistakes.  Well Major League Baseball has corrected those mistakes.
On a bunt to Taylor Buchholz through a high throw to first baseman  Todd Helton causing Todd to come of the base.  For some idiotic reason the official scorer ruled that it was an error on Helton.  It should have been an error on Buchholz.

Well Major League Baseball agreed changing the error to Buchholz from Helton.

The second blunder came with LaTroy Hawkins pitching. Continue reading “Rockies vidicated by Major League Baseball”

Why can’t ABC broadcast British Open in HD?

ABC usually does a wonderful job in covering the British Open, but this year they have lost the lead to TNT.  One of the main reasons is that they are not broadcasting the coverage in HD.
TNT has covered the British Open, or Open Championship as it is called everywhere else, in full HD in the correct aspect ratio for the first two rounds.  But ABC has picked up coverage for the weekend and they are broadcasting the Open in the traditional 16:9.

In sports coverage these days, why can’t ABC broadcast the Open in full HD.  If TNT is doing it, ABC certainly can.  They broadcast other sporting events in HD and their sister network ESPN does almost all HD broadcast these days.

CBS and NBC are broadcasting all golf events in HD these days.  NBC even broadcast the celebrity event in Lake Tahoe in HD.

If ABC wants to play with the big boys, they need to broadcast all their events in HD.  Get with the times ABC.
