Rocktober! Rockies Beat the Phillies

It doesn’t get any better than this.
The Colorado Rockies beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 tonight to sweep the Phillies and take the National League Division Series.  They now get ready for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night.

The Rockies proved tonight that they are a good team and that they are real.  To show the nation how well they are doing is incredible.  They are erasing a lot of doubts that the pundits were throwing around at the beginning of the series.

All but a couple of pundits predicted the Phillies would win easily.  No one east of the Mississippi knew of the Rockies and thought they would fold.  But they didn’t and are sending a message to baseball.

This is the happiest that I have ever been not to be going to a baseball game.  I had tickets for the game if it went to a fourth game.  But if you can close out a team, you do it and the Rockies did.

Go Rockies!  Beat the Diamondbacks!

Media Knows Nothing of Rockies and Coors Field

I am watching the TBS coverage of the Rockies-Phillies game tonight and listening to them, it appears that they do not know anything about the Rockies or Coors Field.
They keep calling it a home run ballpark, it is not.  It does not even fall into the top 5.  Citizen’s Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia is number 2 giving up almost three home runs per game.

Also the keep talking about the humidor effect.  Well the humidor is keeping the ball legal.  What they were finding in the dry climate of Colorado, the ball was shrinking out of specifications.  So they put the humidor in the ball is heavier, not as heavy, and within specifications set by Major League Baseball.

So when is the national media and east coast media going to give up the home run hitters ball park shadow that Coors Field has and finally give the Colorado Rockies the credit that they deserve.  Probably never.

Wilson to seek Senate seat in New Mexico

TheHill.com – Wilson to seek Senate seat
It is going to be an interesting election season in the mountain west.  This election in New Mexico is going to be closely followed and the Senate election in Colorado to fill Wayne Allard’s seat is going to be another one.

In New Mexico, like most of the west, is turning from a conservative state to a more balanced one, mainly due to the population growth in the Albuquerque area.  In the last election, Heather Wilson (R) survived a tough battle against Patricia Madrid (D) in the Albuquerque area.

But this is a state-wide election and I think that Heather Wilson brings name recognition throughout the state compared to the Democrats who are running and outside of Albuquerque, most of the state is conservative and votes Republican.

Plus Wilson will have Senator Domenici out on the campaign trail with her and he is revered in the state.

It is going to be an interesting election in New Mexico.

News.Com Podcast Ends Early

I listen to the News.com Daily Tech News podcast, but I have a problem, it always cuts off early.  As they are finishing up the podcast, it just cuts off.
Most recently, they have been running the new Buzz Out Loud Podcast commercials, and those are what is getting cut off.

You may wonder why I care about the commercials at the end of a podcast being cut-off.  Well, the new Buzz Out Loud commercials are pretty good and funny, especially the South Park one.

Also, it is sometimes not a commercial.  Sometimes it is the content of the show and sometimes a story that I am interested in.

This does not happen on any other podcast that I listen to, so I am assuming it is something that is happening in the production of this show.  I use iTunes and have heard of problems like this.  But it does not happen to any other podcast.

News.Com Daily Tech News podcast, I would appreciate you taking a look at this.  I would also be interesting in hearing if anyone else is having this problem.  Leave a comment and let me know.

The Smithsonian, Trying to Stay Cool and Collected

The Smithsonian, Trying to Stay Cool and Collected – washingtonpost.com
This is a pretty interesting article that describes what the Smithsonian, our nations museum, must go through to get memorabilia for its collection.  They must compete against the likes of eBay, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Sotheby’s, and others.

I have been to the American History Museum several times and have enjoyed it every-time.  You can see Dorthy’s Ruby Slippers from the Wizard of Oz, Archie Bunker’s Chair, Kermit the Frog and other Muppet’s, and many other things.  It is a great place to visit.

But they are struggling these days because of all the outlets and opportunities for others to get the items.  For example, a lot of people like to sell items on eBay and the themed restaurants wanting them to decorate their restaurants like Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood do.  They have a bunch more money than the government run Smithsonian has. Rockies Win, Lead Series 2-0

Source:  ESPN.com

Kaz Matsui hit a grand slam and the Colorado Rockies jumped out to a 2-0 series lead by beating the Philadelphia Phillies 10-5 this afternoon.

It was a great game and the Rockies just keep on hitting and the Phillies are struggling at the plate and on the mound.

One more to go and the Rockies will move on in the playoffs.

Go Rockies!

We Need a Solution For Water

The Colorado Index: We Need a Solution For Water
This is an interesting look at water in Colorado and need to have something done.  This post looks at some of the political wrangling around water in the State of Colorado.

Something needs to be done, but most people want to talk about it, and not take any action.  If something is not done soon, we will be short of water and and that is something that we don’t need to be short of.

Eric Young abondons Rockies

Eric Young, an original Rockies player, has abandoned them.  Young is a color analyst for ESPN and says that Jimmy Rollins will win the MVP and the Philadelphia Phillies will beat the Colorado Rockies.
I don’t think that will happen.  Matt Holliday will win the MVP and the Colorado Rockies will beat the Phillies.

Go Rockies!
