Amber MacCarthur, one of our favorite web celebrities from up north, is taking on the telecommunications establishment in Canada for their packet shifting and throttling of the Internet.
Bell and Rodgers are restricting bandwidth whenever and wherever they want and it is finally making our Canadian friends upset.

Well I finally completed my upgrade to WordPress 2.5 and I am liking it quite a bit. I had planned on doing this while I was gone, but just did not have the time.
I am finding that I like this new version quite a bit and it is refreshing over the previous version. I had found that it had become quite tired.
I am looking forward to more updates and other interesting things from the folks who develop WordPress.
Well Frontier Airlines has done it to me again. The flight back toDenver from Washington, DC, does not have TV again.
It may seem minor, but this is one of the reasons why I fly Frontier. If
they can’t have a plane that works with a service the advertise, “All
Airbus’ have Direct TV,” then they shouldn’t be in the air.
I am extremely disappointed in Frontier!
Well it was a good day for two of the professional sports teams in Colorado, the Colorado Avalanche and the Colorado Rockies.
The Colorado Avalanche came back from a 2-0 deficit to score four straight goals to defeat the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Peter Forsberg scored his first goal of the season and they looked pretty good through the second half of the game.
The Colorado Rockies had a re-do and beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1. The original opener was rained out after the St. Louis Cardinals had opened up a 5-1 lead. Thank goodness for the rain.
Let’s hope the good news continues for these two teams as the spring continues on and into the fall for the Rockies.

It is opening day for Major League Baseball. It doesn’t get any better
than this!
Ever since the World Series was over last October I have been waiting
for the new season to begin.
I am really encouraged by what the Colorado Rockies have been doing by
building the core team and building through the minor league system.
What the did last year was amazing and there are a bunch of expectations
this year.
I hope that they can live up to those expectations.
The season has gotten off to a great start with two games in Japan and
the opening of Nationals Stadium in Washington, DC. A walk-off homerun
is a really good way to open a stadium.
I just hope the rest of the season is this good throughout baseball.
I have tried Evernote a couple of times, but because they do not have a way to sync without hauling a USB key around. It was just too hard to try and use at work, at home, or on the road.
Well they now have a version that will allow you to use the web and other devices that you may use to take notes and use. To me, that is a good step in the right direction and I look forward to the upgrade.

I choose to fly Frontier Airlines as much as I can. They are a localDenver airline that has good customer service and they have TV on the
flight.
Having TV on a flight makes the time go by so much faster. A three-hour
flight just does not seem as long when there is something mindless on.
In addition, Frontier Airlines oversold the flight and people were not
happy. For example, a couple had bought a seat for their infant and
because the flight was oversold they took that seat.
As a parent who travels with young children and I purchase seats for
them, I would not be happy if they took the seat from me. It looks like
they compensated them, but they still shouldn’t have taken their seat.
On a good note, the crew was quite friendly and the plane was nice. It
is a new Airbus that they just took delivery on. So that is why there
was no TV. They hadn’t installed the hardware and software to make it
work.
Let’s hope the rest of my work trip goes well.
I just want to say that Earth Hour is just a waste of everyone’s time. Turning off power for one hour on a Saturday evening around the world is a novel idea, but it won’t do anything to reduce carbon emissions.
It is just a symbolic ploy by people who have no clue how energy is developed, generated, and distributed.
For those of you who don’t know, Earth Hour is an international event that asks households and businesses to turn off their lights and non-essential electrical appliances for one hour on the evening of 29 March at 8 pm local time until 9 pm to promote electricity conservation and thus lower carbon emissions. Power companies plan their power generation based on historical averages and will have that power available to deliver during Earth Hour whether it is used or not. They will also have reserves available in case demand is greater than the historical averages.
So turning off your power and non-essential appliances for an hour will not save any electricity or reduce carbon emissions for that one hour. Nice idea, just wrong.
A more novel approach is to get people to reduce their consumption permanently. People should replace all their light bulbs with CFL’s and make sure your appliances are energy star compliant. (My family has.)
There should also be better ways to generate power individually. I am thinking the cost of putting solar panels on our homes should be cheaper. It shouldn’t cost $20,000 to $30,000 to do this. My parents just did this and it was nothing but a hassle to get it installed and for PG&E to get it hooked up to the grid.
We should use water efficiently in our homes and we should reduce the impact of our vehicles by combining as many trips as possible or by taking public transportation. (I just wish public transportation was a lot better in Denver than it is.)
By doing what we can do as individuals and as a society, we can have a bigger impact on energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions than the Earth Hour claims to do tonight.
How unfair is the NCAA Hockey Championships where the host in the midwest regional is the University of Wisconsin and they are playing the University of Denver at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Because home ice means so much, hosts, if they qualify, should never play on their own ice. The advantage is too great.
They don’t have to travel and the fans are in their favor. It creates an advantage that one team should not enjoy in the national championships.
WordPress 2.5 is now available to download and install. In addition, WordPress.Org was redesigned. It also looks pretty cool, so check it out too.
