Why are weekends so busy?

Why are weekends so busy?
It is getting crazy, especially now the kids are getting older. It all starts on Saturday morning running them to gym and ballet.

Then it is home to get work done and errands. Plus there is church on Sunday mornings and yardwork. It just never ends.

This weekend is going to be worse.

We have the usual Saturday morning and have to miss the annual clean-upin Westminster. It would have been good to have the kids participate.

Additionally my wife is taking our daughter to a ballet Saturday afternoon and then off to a birthday party for a friend.

I think I will have to take a break on Sunday and get stuff done around the house.

I guess this is what it will be like for many more years with young kids. One thing, it is sure fun doing stuff with them.

A crazy week

It has been a crazy week for me and it is finally starting to wind down.  I am in Washington, D.C., for work and I have been quite busy.
I have been working late into the evenings on projects and spent a good part of the day up on Capitol Hill.  I am ready to head home.

Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get some more posts put up.  I have some ideas on what to develop, but just not enough time to put it all together.

Have fun everyone.

Nine Inch Nails makes their latest album available for free download

Nine Inch Nails has made their latest album, the slip, available for free download on their internet.
It is available in high quality MP3, FLAC lossless, MP4 Apple Lossless, and high quality WAVE.

They have made individual songs available for free on the Internet, but not full albums. Plus have made other versions of their music available online in different formats.

Thanks to Dave Fleet for letting me know about this.

Update: I did download the album, MP3, and it is pretty good. I enjoyed the album and look forward to listening to it again.

Washington Park Grille delivers good food and experience

I have found a new restaurant in Denver that is now on my favorites list and it is the Washington Park Grille.
My first experience was a couple months ago during restaurant week in Denver with my wife.  We had a nice dinner, the food was wonderful, and the service top class.  The steak and wine were perfect.  We went on a Wednesday night and when we left the restaurant was still hoping and the bar was overflowing.

The second time I went was last Thursday for Project Angel Heart during lunch.  I went with some co-workers and most of us had been there before.  This time I had the buffalo meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. It was wonderful.

This is a great restaurant in a great part of Denver.  They have great service, great food, great wine, and look like they have great martini’s.

The only drawback is parking.  There is not that much of it with the several restaurants and shops around on Gaylord Street.  Added to the problem is that residential streets in the area have restrictions on them that require a permit to park in the evenings.

The only saving grace is that they have valet parking on Thursday through Saturday evenings.

Reservations are recommended. You can even make a reservation online through OpenTable.

If you want a really good, casual dinner with your loved one or friends, head to the Washington Park Grille. It is a great neighborhood gathering place that you will want to keep coming back to.

Douglas Bruce in trouble again

Representative Douglas Bruce’s tenure in the Colorado House continues to be a tumultuous one.
It started with him kicking a Rocky Mountain News photographer, using a remark against seasonal workers, and now being accused of sexual harassment.

In the latest issue, a complaint was filed against Bruce for sexual harassment.  But in an interview with KHOW’s Dan Caplis, Bruce said that he was only smiling at the woman. Continue reading “Douglas Bruce in trouble again”

Recession? No! Economy grows by .6%

Despite popular discussion, we are not in a recession, the economy grew by 0.6% in the first quarter of this year. This is the same growth that occurred in the fourth quarter of last year.
The economy is limping along, mainly being pulled down by the housing and credit markets, but it still grew.

I think the media needs to stop the gloom and doom. The keep putting the “R” word out there when it is not really a recession.

So what is a recession. I have found two relevant definitions of what a recession is. Continue reading “Recession? No! Economy grows by .6%”

In Zimbabwe Jail: A Reporter’s Ordeal

In Zimbabwe Jail: A Reporter’s Ordeal – New York Times
This is a really good article about the oppression, violence, torture and craziness of what is happening in Zimbabwe.  It is really just sad what Robert Mubabe has done to this country.

Barry Bearak was covering the presidential election in Zimbabwe for the New York Times when he was arrested for “committing journalism.”  The story follows his experiences through the process in jail, being freed, being re-arrested, and then escaping the country.

The main thing now is what is going to happen with the election.  The final results have not been announced and they are doing a recount.  The opposition is being beaten, arrested, and/or murdered.  But it is a pretty good bet that Mugabe did not win the election.

Let’s hope that this repressive government leaves soon, but it is doubtful.  They will probably come up with something to keep them in office.  We all know that recount is a scam.

There are good people in this country, but one tyrant is suppressing and scaring a country so he can remain as the President.

Thanks Barry Bearak for the great article.

A day at Fenway Park

This is a pretty good time lapse video of Fenway Park before, during, and after a game. It has a pan on it so you can see the entire stadium. Good job.

What do you think?

Flight from Washington, DC, to Denver is a long one

The flight home to Denver is quite a long one, about four hours long.Flying east, the trip is almost an hour shorter than the return flight.

The anticipation of getting home might play into the length of the
flight even longer.

As you can tell, I am ready to get home. I should be home in time to
surprise the kids and pick them up at school.

It should be a fun weekend, even though I was gone only a couple of
days.
