Comcast, Get A Clue About Weather Warnings form the National Weather Service

Comcast,
Please get a clue about weather warnings!

Throughout the afternoon you have been sending out warnings on my television for a tornado warning. Which is fine, except if the warning is no where near where I live.

I live in Westminster, Colorado, while the warnings you are issuing are near Kiowa and Colorado Springs. That is about 60 miles as the crow flies.

Those warnings aren’t even close.

Not only are you stressing our family out, we are missing other things on television. The big thing was we missed the end of the Rockies game tonight.

If the technology from the National Weather Service can be there to tell us by part of a county we live in if there is severe weather, then you with addressable cable boxes should be able to determine if we live in a warning area and not send us the warnings that don’t apply to us.

Get some technology and start serving us appropriately.

All Star Game Player Selection Reform Needed – Want Marlins Tickets? Vote 200 times for Ramirez

Want Marlins tickets? Vote 200 times for All-Stars – MLB – Yahoo! Sports.
This is quite fishy if you pardon the pun. The idea is to vote for the best players in each league to the All Star game and right now none of the Marlins seem to fit that bill.

One person who has no business being there is shortstop Hanley Ramirez and his temper tantrums about not playing.

The other surprise is another shortstop. Jimmy Rollins is in a close 2nd while he has not played most of the first-half of the season.

The All Star game is a showcase and fun, but Bud Selig has raised the stakes for the league that wins gets to have the most World Series games.

If this is to be the rule, then a better way to select team members of the respective all star teams needs to happen also.

WordPress 3.0 is working well

I have been using WordPress 3.0 over the weekend and things are working quite well. I am really enjoying it. The bulk changes, the management, and flexibility are working great.
One of the best things I like is the new default template. It is one of the best templates that I have found with WordPress. It is nice looking, extremely flexible, and robust.

Why Football “Soccer” is slow to catch on in the United States

Football, or soccer as it is called in the States, is slowing gaining speed in the United States. But the reason that it proceeding slowly can be tracked to the game today, the officiating.
The USA won this match and everyone in the world knows it, but it goes down as a draw because of some bad officiating. But there were some mysterious calls against the Yanks leading to the ultimate one when the USA had the go ahead goal taken away by some mysterious foul that the official refused to say who committed it.

The game deserves an explanation and FIFA needs to reign in their officials only placing their best officials in these games. The official from Mali was horrible and should be sent home never to officiate again. All you have to do is watch the game and see the horrible calls.

A non-call on an offsides against Slovenia that led to a goal, a handball called against Findley that hit off his shoulder and head that led to a yellow card and a disqualification for the next match, and several fouls that weren’t called on Slovenia. One should have been called on a foul against Altidore in the box for a penalty kick.

We can all hope that FIFA gets it act together for the remaining games. This is truly a great sport and a world sport, but we deserve world class officiating also. Once that happens, the sport will continue to grow and a break-neck speed in the United States.

WordPress 3.0 is wonderful

I just upgraded to WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” and I have to say it is a great upgrade. I haven’t had any problems and the default theme Twenty Ten is just wonderful.
If you are just upgrading your install, you will need to use the theme uploader to install twenty ten, but it is worth it. It puts many of the themes out there to shame. It is what I’ve been looking for.

If you are normally slow to upgrade, don’t worry. Things tend to be working great.

Vote Tulo for NL All Star at Shortstop

The fan voting is winding down and Tulowitzki is in third place in voting for National League All Star at Shortstop. It’s time to kick up the voting and get him ahead of Hanley Ramirez and Jimmy Rollins.
Hanley has had a decent year, but Tulo is having a great season and deserves the start this year. Rollins hasn’t even been playing most of the season because of injuries.

Let’s get the voting started and vote in Tulo!

My thoughts on Jim Joyce’s call and MLB’s response

In one quick moment, Armando Galarraga went from celebrating the 21st perfect game in Major League Baseball history to agony when Jim Joyce missed the call at first base.
It was a horrible call.

But to credit Joyce and the Detroit Tigers have handled the call with class and sportsmanship.

Joyce came out and apologized after seeing the replay and personally sought out Galarraga to apologize that evening. Joyce even declined the option to not work home plate the next day and was forward handling all the criticism. Continue reading “My thoughts on Jim Joyce’s call and MLB’s response”

Verizon Wireless, please stop placing apps on my Blackberry!

I am getting quite tired of Verizon Wireless just adding apps to my Blackberry. I paid for the Blackberry and my service and I control what goes on this device.
These apps just keep showing up and I have no clue what they are or what they are for. The latest was for VCast apps. What? I don’t even have VCast.

Also I can’t delete them. All I can do is hide them.

Verizon Wireless please fix this now!
