Apple Having Post-Thanksgiving Sale?

It looks like Apple is having another post-Thanksgiving sale in their retail stores and online.
I am interested in seeing what mark down items they have.

According their website, the sale runs from Midnight PST to 11:59 PM PST on November 23, 2007.

Bloggers vs PR – The Aftermath | WebProNews

Bloggers vs PR – The Aftermath | WebProNews
This is a great interview that looks at the state of PR and bloggers.

There are some definite opinions that PR and bloggers should never meet.  But in my opinion, I think that there is a place where the two can come together.

PR professionals need to understand the medium while also treating and respecting bloggers like they respect reporters.  Bloggers can carry significant clout in a business line or issue.  If they feel disrespected or get mad, watch out.

Take a look at the article and let me know what you think.

Chris Pirillo: Apple Trusts Us, Microsoft Doesn’t

Chris Pirillo has a really good point about the new Leopard release. Apple trusts you. They don’t require activation. If you buy the one disc version, it trusts you to install it on one computer. If you buy the family pack, you can install it on up to five computers.
The problem is that Microsoft doesn’t trust you. It has a complicated authentication process and digital rights that returns a large number of errors that disables Windows for users who have a legal copy.

Verizon, Google Discuss Mobile Phone Partnership

Verizon, Google Discuss Mobile Phone Partnership – WSJ.com
This would definitely be of interest to me.  I am a Verizon subscriber and would be interested in purchasing a Google specific phone.

It would also create some competition for AT&T and the iPhone as they move forward, especially if they are to allow third-party applications to be added to the phone.

Finally, with some Google executives on the Apple Board of Directors and Al Gore, a big Google investor, on the Apple Board, I am wondering if we will see more of a partnership between Google and Apple on a device like the iPhone on other platforms, like Verizon.

It will be interesting to watch.

GMAIL Gets IMAP

Google has announced on their blog that they are now rolling out IMAP for GMAIL.  I am just going to say one-thing, YEAH!
I enjoy using the web application, but if I can sync my email and manage it locally on a device and it will sync back with the online version, I am all for that.

POP was good in its time, but IMAP is so much better.

Microsoft Invests in Facebook

According to a story in the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft Inks Deal with Facebook, Microsoft has agreed to invest $240 million in Facebook that values Facebook at $15 billion.
To get the investment, Microsoft out competed Google to make the investment in Facebook.

Microsoft will also begin running the sites international advertising.  Microsoft had previously been running the advertising on the U.S. site.

This is going to be interesting to see what happens.  The online battle over advertising is heating up. Microsoft is trying, but I think it is going to be tough road to climb against Google.

EPIC, Evolving Personalised Information Construct

EPIC (Evolving Personalised Information Construct) is an interesting video looking at the future of media. I am not sure when it was first developed, but I think that it has been several years.
There are two versions. One is set in 2014 and the updated version is set in 2015.

It is amazing how close some of the predictions have and are coming true. The merging of media, search, and data; the fight over copyright; and how we will be getting our news and information in the future. Continue reading “EPIC, Evolving Personalised Information Construct”
