Neumann to return deposits, finish some homes

Neumann to return deposits, finish some homes — chicagotribune.com
This is definitely good news for those of us who live in a Neumann neighborhood.  In our neighborhood there are a few homes that were started that were not finished.  There was no home that was not started.

I have seen activity around the homes that were almost done.  It will be nice to see them finished off.  Hopefully it is not too late and they won’t have to tear any of them down.

There are also a lot of workman working at the model home/sales office.  They are removing the last signs of it being an office.

It will be nice to see them done with construction.  Hopefully the spec homes that have not been sold get sold.

Builder going bankrupt, homeowners on their own

9NEWS – Builder going bankrupt, homeowners on their own
More on Neumann Homes and their bankruptcy. They have completely abandoned their developments and are leaving homes unfinished. These are homes that have been sold to people who are now out their down payments.

Also, homeowners who closed within the last year are now out the one-year warranty that they have paid for. We utilized the one year warranty to fix little things that affected our house. Problems with toilets, the wood floors, some concrete work, and problems with the windows. We were able to get them fixed. But now, that won’t be covered by Neumann for those other homeowners.

Finally many homeowners are in limbo because Neumann Homes has actually not filed for Chapter 11 yet. They have announced that they will, but they haven’t yet. So there is confusion in the air. Continue reading “Builder going bankrupt, homeowners on their own”

Neumann Homes filing for bankruptcy

Neumann Homes filing for bankruptcy
Well it is official.  Neumann Homes has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  They have closed all their production, sales, and customer service offices.  They got hit hard by the housing slump and it looks like some acquisitions that they shouldn’t have made.

According to a story in the Denver Post, Plummeting sales level builder, Neumann had planned on selling over 1,000 homes and were only able to sell 81 of them.

We have some unfinished homes in our neighborhood (Harmony Park) and they were to be auctioned off on October 3.  But it is not known how that sell went.  It would nice to see them finished, but I don’t think that will happen soon with this filing.

Neumann Homes Problems Continue

Well Neumann Homes may be out of our neighborhood, The Village at Harmony Park in Westminster, Colo. They had to auction off their remaining inventory because they couldn’t move them in this real estate climate.
Problems continue in the sub-division with many homes that were bought on spec are remaining on the market. Our subdivision does not allow renters, so many of them were left out in the cold when the market crashed here in Colorado.

Also, there are many problems with the infrastructure. The sidewalks are cracking and are not sloped correctly. Also the concrete was not finished correctly and the top layers are flaking off. But according to Neumann, it is not their problem. They are blaming the concrete contractor, but they hired the contractor, so I don’t see the problem.
