Why are people jerks on the road?

I’m just wondering why people are jerks in the road? Why can’t they be nicer to the people in vehicles around them?

Tonight I was in my way home on I25 and was trying to merge from the HOV lane to the main Interstate. I saw an opening and started to merge in and the person driving behind that vehicle sped up and cut me off. He wouldn’t let me merge.

That is just crazy. Everyone is in the same situation. Let a person merge and move on. It’s not worth the frustration.

Every once in a while I encounter a person like this but it’s not the norm.

When I’m at a sporting event and we are trying to get out of the parking lot, most are cooperative and when lanes of traffic merge everyone alternates. That is the way it should be.

Everyone should be respectful on the road. It will make those stressful drives that much better.

Happy New Year

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a great 2013 and has an even better 2014. I am looking forward to 2014.

Be safe everyone and have a good year.

NHL Game Scoring is weird

I just don’t get the NHL game scoring that determines the standings.

You get two points for a win in regulation. But if game goes to overtime, each team gets a point and the winner then gets another point.

This makes it a three point game.

Why not make every game a three point game. It puts more emphasis on winning in regulation.

It just makes sense. I guess it’s why they don’t do it.

iPhone 5 battery issues

My iPhone 5 battery has been lasting less and less recently. So much so that I’m having to charge it 2-3 times in a day.

So before I investigated my options with Apple I decided to reset my phone, download everything again and see of things improved.

They have do far. I’ve been using it pretty heavily the last 4+ hours and I’m down to 34%. But that’s been heavy use with the screen constantly on.

It actually wasn’t too bad while I had my weather apps off. But as soon as I fired up those the battery started going down faster.

I’m going to see how it does tomorrow and then decide if I go to Apple to see what can be done.

Custom and Border Patrol – Throwing out the Constitution Thinking They are Protecting Us

I was out enjoying a fine fall evening in Colorado. I was catching up on my podcasts and On the Media was on my iPhone.

I was listening to the episode from September 20 and OTM Producer Sarah Abdurrahman described her detainment by Custom and Border Patrol agents returning to the United States from a wedding near Toronto.

To summarize they were held in cold, almost freezing rooms. Questioned for about 6 hours and then finally released. They were forced to turn over their cell phones for inspection, even putting in the codes for them.

To me this is quite appalling. Stopping and detaining United States citizens for no apparent reason except they are muslim. It is illegal for law enforcement officers to
perform any stops, searches, detentions or removals based
solely on your race, national origin, religion, sex or ethnicity.

In this case the only reason they seemed to be stopped was that they were muslim. They were stopped at the border crossing at Niagara Falls. Friends, who are also muslim, went through the border crossing at Detroit and were stopped also.

While Customs and Border Protection can look through all your belongings, it is still questionable if they can search your laptop. As a U.S. Citizen you can request a lawyer be present if you are being questioned.

I think every U.S. citizen should listen to this segment and how the Customs and Border Patrol are treading on our civil liberties. Basically saying, what constitution? It is whatever we want to come up with and we don’t have to tell you anything.

I am ashamed this is going on. They are degrading all of our forefathers who went before us defending this country and the constitution. The U.S. Constitution is America and we should not ever let any one take it away from us.
