Why I Hate MLB.TV

I am a premium subscriber to MLB.TV.  This allows me to watch baseball games streaming live at 700k.  The problem is that I can’t watch my local team, the Colorado Rockies because they are blacked out.
I don’t usually have a problem with this except when I am traveling or the game is not broadcast on TV.

For example, I am home today still recovering from a surgery and the game is not being broadcast on local television.  But because Major League Baseball blacks out all games of the team in your local market, I can’t watch it.

Major League Baseball should make exceptions for games that are not being broadcast locally and allow people to watch them over the Internet.  Especially if they are paying over $125 for the season to subscribe.

Traveling is a different matter.  I guess I will go with Slingbox to watch the games while I am away.  That is if MLB doesn’t shut them down.

Well I will be listening to the game on the radio today.  Go Rockies!

Safari 3.0.1 is a little more stable

I have re-download Safari for Windows because of the fix of some of the security issue and I am finding 3.0.1 more stable than 3.0.
It is nice to work with and comfortable to the eye, but I don’t see myself moving away from Firefox.

I feel that Safari is slower at rendering pages, contrary to Apple claims, and the text issue is better but it could render text a lot better.

To make the text better, I used Cambria font and turned the font smoothing set to Light.

The other problem is that this blog uses WordPress and Safari for Windows does not manage the dashboard that well.  I am unable to use the rich text editor or place any links in the post.  That just doesn’t cut if for me.

It is better and more stable, but it is not quite up to Firefox and that is where I am going to stay for a while.

Will have to see if this will work for me.  There is always so much going on, I need to do something with GTD.

I have had some frutstrations with Stikkit before.  Will see if they get resolved or I stay with Backpack.

How To: Get Safari’s best features in Firefox – Lifehacker
Lifehacker has a pretty good story on how to incorporate the best Safari attributes in Firefox.

This is great because the security concerns that are arising in the beta release of Safari.  But Apple has released a new update to hopefully address these concerns.

Also, Wired Magazine did some benchmarks and found out that Safari 3 is slower than IE and Firefox.

We will just have to see as things shake out and if Safari 3 for Windows comes out of beta.
