A Year Old

Well this is the anniversary of my first post of this blog, Mile High Soapbox.
It is fun and I really enjoy doing this. It gives me a way to write about things I enjoy and sometimes vent about things that are making me mad.

As we move into the second year of this blog, I am going to be trying to focus and write more and write better.

I hope you will keep visiting and reading and let me know what you think. Your comments are always appreciated, a good dialog is always good.

Rockies Win 9-7

The Colorado Rockies won tonight beating the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 9-7.
With the Arizona Diamondbacks and Philadelphia Phillies losing tonight, the Rockies gained ground on them.  But the San Francisco Giants’ bullpen blew it in the ninth inning and gave up a three-run home run to lose to the San Diego Padres by two.

The Rockies are now three games back of the Diamondbacks and one game back of the Padres in the Wild Card Race.  They are now tied with the Phillies.

Five games to go and they are still in this race.  Go Rockies!!!!!

WordPress 2.3

I have upgraded to WordPress 2.3 and it was as easy as pie.
I have had no problems and it is working great. I am greatly interested in how this is going to work, especially tagging.

I tried to use some of the plugins that incorporated tagging and they never quite worked.

So far I am enjoying WordPress 2.3.

The War by Ken Burns

I am watching this film series, The War by Ken Burns.
This is an incredible film.  It takes a look at the war, not from the expert or historian point-of-view, but from an individual point-of-view.

The beginning jumps around a little and does not go into detail on how the war started and what led to the causes, especially in the Pacific Theater.  But it is a good look at how the war affected common Americans and how they built up to fight the war.

I would encourage everyone to watch it and learn so that this does not happen again.

Is there a NFL team in Denver?

The town is finally realizing that there is a baseball team in Denver, the Colorado Rockies.
Today, the Rockies swept the San Diego Padres 7-3 .  Also today the Denver Broncos lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-14.  But it is nice to see that the lead on the Denver Post tonight is the Rockies winning.

Up until lately, no matter what the Rockies were doing, the Broncos would have the lead story.  Now with the Rockies doing so well and the Broncos just starting their season, the local media is starting realize that the Rockies have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs.

Let’s hope the Rockies continue to roll and that the make the playoffs.  Today, they are only 1.5 games back.

Go Rockies!!!

Google Docs and Online Collaboration

I have been struggling with a way to develop an online collaboration solution for some work flow processes that we have.
What we have been doing lately is developing a newsletter and it has been hard to track what the status of everything is. Plus we have several authors and a couple editors working on a story.

And did I mention that the people working on these are located all over the country? Continue reading “Google Docs and Online Collaboration”

Slapstick Politics: Sen. Salazar Feels Nutroots’ Heat For Not Being A “MoveOn” Democrat

Slapstick Politics: Sen. Salazar Feels Nutroots’ Heat For Not Being A “MoveOn” Democrat
Slapstick Politics has a wonderful post about how Ken Salazar is getting attacked by the far left organization MoveOn.org.

Salazar does not need the support of MoveOn.  If he is to get re-elected in Colorado he is going to have to be a moderate.  It would be extremely tough if he goes as far to the left that MoveOn wants him to.

I am happy that Salazar is a moderate, but MoveOn is not winning any friends lately.  America is finally seeing the anger that they bring to politics.

What we need is a healthy discussion and debate, not threats.  Right now, the only thing that MoveOn is bringing these days are threats.
